Guarnicê Project

June 2019 a collective of twenty five people, among those capoeiristas and artists, gathered together at the Plato Potosino, in Mexico, to participate in the production of a film.

We are very proud and happy to present Guarnicê, a videoclip filmed in the small village of Cerro de San Pedro.

The story of Guarnicê, however, began one year earlier, in 2018, in London, Britain, with the recording of a capoeira album named Contragolpe (Counter Coup).

That first project spoke about the political crisis and the 2016 Coup D’état that took place in Brazil, a topic of global significance, as it represents another instance of democratic weakening in a very significant geopolitically important country.

This time the purpose is to highlight the pressing need for change in political culture due to the increase of ecological imbalance as the dangers associated with climate change, well documented by science and evidenced by the facts, continue to rise.

Being aware of the problem is not sufficient, its time to act. A peaceful rebellion is necessary for the signs of nature to be heard, before it is too late. 

We are in the beginning of the collective campaign to finance the recording of a capoeira album with compositions contextualized with the themes mentioned above.
