Album Guarnicê

A big thanks to those which have contributed to the production and recording of Album Guarnicê, the second of a trilogy.  Without the participation, collective spirit and trust of each of you, this recording would not be possible.

In addition on that, we had the great assistance of Pedro Lima & Delcio Teobaldo as music directors, Marc Brown & Josh Gaskin Brown as producers.

Since the beginning of the project in 2018 it has been a hard process, but the culmination, the collaboration and the recording were filled with joy.

The first album Contragolpe, also made in London in 2018, arose from the anguish and need to denounce the 2016 Coup in Brazil.

This time, on the new album Guarnicê, we are bringing 3 themes on Side A (capoeira): politics, tradition and spirituality.  The linking of these topics with the more experimental Side B songs is intended to embrace the energy of the Afrobrazilian musicality together with critical thinking. Thus, each song composed or chosen to be part of the new album has a message that will be accompanying each music in text.

If the collapse of Brazilian democracy was the theme of Contragolpe. Now, the album Guarnicê is a collective response together with other many reactions coming from Brazil and worldwide, addressing that there will be resistance to the current Brazilian extreme right wing govern. That will happen in different ways, under various guises, strategies and with many allies.

We can’t wait to share Album Guarnicê songs with everyone.
